I Heard It Through The Grape Vine.

I CAN'T believe it! I made freezer jam. I have always wanted to try canning especially because we have an abundance of fruit in our backyard. This year we had quite a few friends come over and pick the fruit to make freezer jam, syrups and list goes on and on. They always bring me a can of the yummy stuff and I always say next year I'M going to try this. Well, I finally did. LOL We have a fence that is covered in grape vines and you should see the amount of grapes it produces. It is pretty amazing.

The kids had a blast picking the grapes and rinsing them off before we brought them into the house.

First thing first. I take them off the stems and throw them into a strainer and give them another good rinse.
I separated them into freezer bags, that way I could freeze the ones I don't make jam with and use them for snacks.
Next, I put them in a big pot with one cup of water and started to boil them. As I was boiling them I used a potato masher to smash them. After you bring it to a boil add one package of fruit pectin and about 5 Cups of sugar while continuing to stir. Then bring it down to a simmer for about 5 min. You will then bring it back to a boil stirring the whole time. Put them in your cans immediately.

Let them stand for about 30 min. then put them in the freezer.
The next morning we had some awesome jam and I'm not just saying that because I made it. It really turned out great. I am so proud of myself. Ha ha
